Renata Zarazúa is a professional tennis player who was born in Mexico City, yet currently residing in Tampa, US. Zarazúa had reached her best singles ranking at World Number 117 as of September 2021. She had an older brother who was a former varsity for their college tennis team at the Palm Beach Atlantic University. Her great-uncle, Vicente Zarazua, was also a professional player and once participated in the Davis Cup. As an aspiring tennis player, she cited Simona Halep as her main inspiration why she plays tennis.

Professional Career

Zarazua debuted at the Mexican Open last February 2018, where she successfully defeated Kristyna Pliskova. In 2020, she received a wildcard entry to play for the same event, and for the first time in her career, she was able to reach the semifinals by defeating top-seeded players like Sloane Stephens.

In 2020, she was qualified to participate in the French Open, and she became the first Mexican player who qualified for the main draw in 20 years. By the following year, she was able to compete in the Olympics with her partner, Giuliana Olmos.
