Michael was born on October 16, 1987. He stands 119 centimeters tall and his last listed weight is 86 kilograms. He turned pro in 2009. He is coached by Davide Sanguinetti and Pat Harrison. He attended the Louisiana State University and the University of Texas.
He married in 2020 to his wife Sally. In addition to tennis, he enjoys watching movies, reading, and going to the beach. He is a fan of Rugby and is a fan of the New Zealand team, the All-Blacks.
College Years
He attended the University of Texas from 2006 to 2007 before eventually transferring to Louisiana State University for the rest of his college career. He was the first LSU player to have won an ITA Men’s All-American Championship.
At the BNP Paribas International University Challenge of Tennis in 2009, he represented the United States of America.

Professional Career
In 2014, he reached the semi-finals at the Atlanta Open. In the same year, he also made it to the semi-finals of Kuala Lumpur. He also made it to the third round of the double’s event at the US Open.
One of the most notable years of his career was 2017. He teamed up with Ryan Harrison and the two went on to win the double’s event at that year’s Roland Garros. The pair also made it to the semi-finals of the ATP World Tour Finals. At the end of the year, Harrison and Venus were ranked 15 and 16 in the world rankings.
2018 was also a great year for Venus. He made it to the Finals of 2018 Wimbledon for the men’s doubles and the semi-finals for the mixed-doubles.
In August 2019, broke into the Top 10 of the world double’s rankings when he was ranked No.8 in August.
Some of the more significant wins in his career include finals finishes at the US Open for 2017 and 2019. He was paired with Chan Hao-ching. He also represented New Zealand at the 2020 Summer Olympics where he earned a bronze medal. In 2021, he won his first Masters 1000 event when he won in Paris while paired with Tim Putz.
