Marketa Vondrousova is a professional tennis player who was born in Sokolov, Czech Republic on June 28, 1999. The Czech, however, now lives in Prague where she is also training. She started playing tennis when she was just 4 years old, after being introduced to the sport by her father. By 10 years old, she was already starting her training in Prague. She moved to Prague by herself in order to focus on her training.

Vondrousova has stated that her favorite surface is clay because it is what she grew up on, but she does think that her game is suited for hard courts. She used to play soccer before, but then chose to follow tennis since she prefers its individual nature.

It was in 2015 that Vondrousova made her first WTA tour main draw debut. This was in doubles at the 2015 Sparta Prague Open together with her partner Katerina Vankova. However, the duo lost against Kateryna Bondarenko and Eva Hrdinova. In 2016, Vondrousova played at the 2016 Roland Garros juniors. However, she sat out the rest of the year due to an elbow injury.

She returned to the tour in 2017 and she won her first WTA title at the Ladies Open Biel/Bienne. Vondrousova ended the year with entering the women’s top 100 with a world ranking of 94. So far, her doubles run with partner Barbora Strycova has been successful in 2019.

At a young age, Vondrousova has done well, and currently as a career record of 108 matches won and 47 losses. She already has 1 WTA title as well as 7 ITF Circuit titles. Her highest rank achieved is at No. 30 which is also her current rank as of May 2019. In singles, she has played in all four Grand Slam tournaments. In doubles, she has not yet played in the French Open.
