Catherine Cartan Bellis, also known as “CiCi” Bellis, is an American professional tennis player who was born on April 8, 1999. CiCi, as she likes to be known as, was born in San Francisco, but currently resides in Atherton, California. She was homeschooled, and is an only child.
CiCi had an impressive record as a junior tennis player, even ranking at No. 1. She is currently coached by Anibal Aranda, and she turned pro in 2016 after participating in the US Open. This decision also meant forgoing the tennis scholarship that was offered by Stanford University. CiCi also talks frequently to Chris Evert, 18-time Grand Slam champion, as part of the US Tennis Association mentoring program.
Suffice to say that her 2016 debut was impressive compared to most, as she finished at No. 90. A year later, she broke into the Top 50 for the first time, and is known to be the youngest player in the Top 50. She is also one of the four teenagers who are inside the Top 100.
So far in her career, CiCi has a career record of 115 victories and 55 losses. She has already won 1 WTA 125K title, and 6 ITF titles to her name. The highest rank CiCi achieved was at No. 35, which she attained on August 2017. However, she currently ranks at No. 45 as of March 2018. To top off her impressive run so far, CiCi has already played at Grand Slam tournaments since she turned pro. Although she has yet to win a Grand Slam title.
