Rafael Nadal beats Yannick Hanfmann and advances into the third round of the Australian Open.

Sixth-seeded Nadal is seeking to win his 21st Grand Slam title. He defeated Hanfmann 6-2 6-3 6-4. Hanfmann saved four match points before the match eventually went into Nadals favor.

Nadal will next face Karen Khachanov. He is now the only former Australian Open champion that still remains in the draw. His 2021 season was cut short owing to a foot injury. He stated that there wasnt much pressure on him even as he attempts to break his three-way tie with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

“I’m excited about the fact that I’m going to be playing in a third-round for one more time here after all the things I am going through,” he said.

“The pressure is only to stay healthy and to enjoy the fact that I am competing again, then give my best as I did during all my tennis career.”

In addition to Nadal, Alexander Zverev also celebrated his victory against Australian John Millman. In his post-match interview, he said, “I feel good, I won, I could really feel you guys have been in lockdown for two years.

It was an amazing atmosphere, and hopefully it will stay the same and get even louder for the next matches.”

Other players who also celebrated wins include Sebastian Korda and Pablo Carreno Busta. The two will next meet up with each other in the next round.
