World Number One Novak Djokovic is now representing his country, Serbia, for the Davis Cup Finals. During the first game, it only took the tennis champion to beat Denis Novak in straight sets.
Djokovic, who up to this day is undefeated since 2011 in Davis Cup, was domineering during the World Number 110 Denis Novak. Defending champions Spain and Italy also won on the second day of the Davis Cup.
Djokovic mentioned in the post-match interview that it’s been a year since he’d played for his country, so he finds it motivating and great to play for Serbia once again. The World Number One tennis player is bound to face Germany on Saturday.
Meanwhile, US Open Daniil Medvedev will be representing the Russian Tennis Federation and he is set to play against Ecuador.
Right after the Davis Cup, Djokovic will participate in the World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi in December. However, his participation in the Australian Open is still hanging, as he doesn’t want to reveal his vaccination status.
The Australian government had been very strict with the players who will participate at the Australian Open, as they want them to be vaccinated first. Players who are expected to join in the Australian Open are Andy Murray, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Rafael Nadal, and Emma Radacanu.
If Djokovic won’t be joining the Australian Open, the lesser threat it is for players to win the championship. If ever he will change his mind, then his fellow top-ranked players would certainly enjoy the heat of the competition.
