Abu Dhabi became one of the world’s center places for sports events. The International Tennis Federation had decided to move the Davis Cup Finals to Abu Dhabi on a five-year contract.

The ITF is also set to meet their preferred investment partners by next week and will be holding a board meeting with them.

However, players unwelcomed the transfer of the event, as they have been notified lately to travel to the Middle East at the end of the year. At the same time, the event might be stretched up to 12 days, because it might clash with the football’s World Cup in Qatar.

The previous venues for the Davis Cup were usually in Turin, Innsbruck, and Madrid, with Spain as the main host. But it seems like the ITF and Kosmos had talked about their partnership in 2018 with a $3bn (2.25bn) at stake. This led them to a conclusion to end the traditional format of the Davis Cup Finals and to create a fresher 18-team Finals setup.

The expected players that will be participating in the Davis Cup Finals are Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev, who are high-profiled players yet will combine their tennis prowess in the tournament. Alexander Zverev is supposed to be joining the Davis Cup, however, he needs to back out due to over fatigue and injury.

Other events that will be happening in Abu Dhabi would be the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix and the NFL World Cup Championship, so it’s expected that the world’s greatest sports will be attended by a lot of supporters despite the pandemic.
