The Croatian tennis player Marin Cilic had claimed his victory against Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime in the Stuttgart finals, which lasted almost 2 hours. This is his first ATP title after three years.
Cilic shared in an interview that the Stuttgart final is very important to win because, since 2018, he hadn’t won a title and has only played two semi-finals.
Winning for the Mercedes Cup is also a good sign for him to pursue Queen’s and Wimbledon. It’s also his joy to win his first title with his family witnessing him for the first time in the tournament.
The 32-year-old tennis player is the third oldest Stuttgart Champion behind Roger Federer and Barry Phillips-Moore.
He is currently ranked as World No. 47, which is the lowest-ranked Stuttgart titleholder since 2011, who happened to be Juan Carlos Ferrero in Rank No. 85.
Playing on the grass plays a big experience for him, and the condition on the grass-court can be difficult. He said that keeping his intensity on the grasscourt plays a huge part in his victory.
On the other hand, Auger-Aliassime had noted that he was not facing a final, but he was facing Marin Cilic. He also thinks that Cilic is a better player overall. He also drops a record of 0-8 in the ATP Tour Finals, and he also finished being a runner-up at the Murray River Open last February. The next plan for him is to face Hubert Hurckacz in the Novendi Open.
