The William sisters, Venus and Serena, will again meet in the US Open quarterfinals. They both smoothly made their way through the fourth round matches. Polish player Agnieszka Radwanska was far beyond the playing style and skills of Venus, who is currently the No. 7 seed. Radwanska barely progressed her game in the second set with a score of 6-1, 6-3. Similarly, Serena defeated French player Severine Bremond with a consistent 6-2, 6-2 score. Dinara Safina is also in for the US Open after a good game against Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany with a not-so-close score of 7-5, 6-0. She is looking forward to face Italian player Flavia Pennetta in the American courts. Pennetta lashed Amelie Mauresmo, former number one player in the world with a score of 6-3, 6-0.

In the men’s division, British Andy Murray won over Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland with an almost consistent 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. Murray is expected to play against Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina, who beat Kei Nishikori of Japan with 6-3, 6-4, 6-3.

Then there is Rafael Nadal which many believe that 2008 has been a very good year for him. After being the man of the moment and him earning the Beijing Olympic gold he still survived a serious game against Sam Querrey managing to advance to the next round. It took them over three hours to get a good game of 6-2, 5-7, 7-6, 6-3. The Spanish player will meet Mardy Fish, another American player who gained victory over French player Gael Monfils.
