World number one Ashleigh Barty is on a collision course to face last year’s Wimbledon finalists Angelique Kerber and Serena Williams after the draw for the 2019 event was revealed.

Barty has been placed in the same quarter of the draw as 2018 champion KerberAngelique Kerber as well as last year’s runner-up and seven-time Wimbledon winner Serena Williams>.

The Australian, who won the French Open earlier this month, will face Chinese Saisai Zheng in the first round, while she is set to face another ex-Wimbledon winner Gabine Muguruza in the third round.

Williams will face Giulia Gatto-Monticone in the opening round, while Kerber’s title defence commences against Tatiana Maria.

Second seed Naomi Osaka begins against Yulia Putintseva, while she also has Caroline Wozniacki, Madison Keys and Simona Halep in her quarter of the draw.

In-form world number three Karolina Pliskova will open against Zhu Lin and appears to have a soft quarter of the draw, with Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina the next best rank at eight.

Fourth-ranked Kiki Bertens is in the other quarter which includes Petra Kvitova, Sloane Stephens and local hope Johanna Konta.

Barty, who withdrew from last week’s Eastbourne event due to an arm problem, is fine to take her place and enters as the favourite.

Pliskova is second favourite, with Kerber and Williams seen as the main contenders along with Osaka and two-time winner Kvitova.
