Roland Garros has seen its new victor this year. Rafael Nadal just claimed his 12th title at the French Open after defeating Dominic Thiem.

Nadal has been a huge force on the clay courts, and this season is not different. He showed off his dominance on the court with a huge third straight victory.

So far, Nadal has just missed the French Open prize three times in his career. During his match against Thiem, he simply just played his best and won against the Austrian for the second straight year.

The first two sets, however, were a bit tense. However, his class and level shone through as he emerged victorious, claiming his 18th victory at a Major tournament.

After his victory, Nadal said, “First of all, congratulations to Dominic… I really hope he will have the chance to win in the future. He has an unbelievable passion for this sport. I wanted to congratulate him and encourage him for the future.

It is really incredible. I cannot explain. The sensation is a dream to play for the first time in 2005 here. I could not think that in 2019 I would be still here.”

Thiem came in to the match strong, and Nadal had to fight over the fierce challenge that Thiem was bringing to the court. In fact, there was a brutal hitting throughout the match before Nadal was able to clinch the title.

It was something of a repeat from the finals from last year. Nadal won in straight sets then, although Thiem made the first move. Thiem’s advantage was wiped out as soon as Nadal was able to.

In the end, the Spanish Superman still won over the Austrian, claiming his 12th French Open title, adding to his collection of trophies.
