Janet Evans

Janet Elizabeth Evans was born on the 28th of August 1971, in Fullerton, California; she is more commonly known as Janet or Beth.

Janet Evans is an American swimmer who won three individual gold medals in the 400m and 800m freestyle and in the 400m IM at the 1988 Olympics. She was a Sullivan Award winner in 1989. Evans also won one gold medal in the 800m and one silver medal in the 400m at the 1922 Olympics.

In the years 1987, 1989, and 1990, Evans was named the Female World Swimmer of the Year by Swimming World magazine. She has been a motivational speaker and corporate spokesperson for companies such as AT&T, Speedo, Campbell’s, PowerBar, John Hancock, Cadillac, and Xerox since her retirement. She had also competed on the NBC show Celebrity Circus.
