BK Frem were established in 1886 and have won the Danish Championship six times and the Danish Cup twice. But since 1983 they have been going through a bad situation economically and in 1993 were relegated to the Danmarksserien because of bankruptcy. After the 2003-2004 season, which Frem spent in the Superliga, they were again on the verge of bankruptcy.
