Fussball Club Basel 1893, commonly known simply as FC Basel, is a Swiss football club based in Basel. They currently feature in the Swiss Super League and are one of the most successful clubs of Switzerland, having wo the league 12 times.

FC Basel were established on November 15,1893 and won their first silverware some 40 years later when they won the Swiss Cup in 1933. They won the Cup in 1947 and win their first league title in 1953.

FC Basel won the Swiss Cup again in 1963. They went onto win the league in 1967 and won the Cup that year too.

The following year Basel featured in the European Cup for the first time in their history but were knocked out from the first round. They won the league again in 1969 and then in 1977. They also triumphed in the league in 1980.

But Basel soon suffered relegation but did bounce back into the top division before long. They then won the league in 2002 and established themselves as a top club in Switzerland. Basel retained the Swiss Super League title in 2003 and won the championship again in 2007 and then successfully defended it in 2008.

FC Basel play their home matches at the St. Jakob-Park that can accommodate 42,500 supporters. They bear the nicknames FCB, Bebbi and RotBlau.
