Etoile du Sahel or Étoile Sportive du Sahel is nicknamed as Brigade rouge (Red squad) and was founded on 11th May, 1925. This is a professional sports club from Sousse, Tunisia known worldwide for its football team. This team even houses sections for volleyball, wrestling, handball, judo and basketball.

Etoile du Sahel is known as one of the two clubs in the world along with Juventus F.C of Italy to have won all the international club competitions that were organized by their respective continental confederation apart from being the only one to have won all CAF club events in Africa.

This is the precise club that got founded during a public meeting held at the French-Arabic school in Sousse, when Chedli Boujemla was elected as the foremost chairman of the multi-sport club. This club was officially recognized by the Protectorate Administration on 17th July, 1925. Later on, this club became the Islamic club and in 1950, they won their first major honor of the Tunisian Ligue Professionelle 1 title, though they had to wait almost eight years to pick it up again. In 1959, the club won their first Tunisian President Cup, post which they completed a league and cup double game in 1963, thus becoming the first Tunisian team to do so.

Throughout the 70s and 80s, it was a difficult time for this club, despite winning back-to-back league titles in 1986 and in 1987. By 1995, they won their first ever continental trophy, achieving the CAF Cup. In 1997, they won the African Cup double, the African Super cup in 1998 and the CAF Cup as well for the second time in 1999.

By 2003, they won the African Cup, making it to the African Champions League finals the following year. In 2006, they won the CAF Confederation Cup, and had a memorable Champions league too. The fiercest rival team of Étoile Sportive du Sahel is Esperance Sportive de Tunis team, as these two teams were known to be one of the finest teams of Tunisia. Also, Etoile du Sahel had other rivals teams like Club Africain and Club Sportif Sfaxien.
