The **Las Vegas Locomotives **>is a professional American football team that takes part in the United Football League. It is based in based in Las Vegas. The team is also known as the Locos for short. They play their host matches in Sam Boyd Stadium, which is also the abode for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Jim Fassel is the general manager and head coach of the Locomotives. Winning both the 2009 as well as 2010 UFL championships, they are the only UFL team who has won any of the league’s championships.
In 2009, Las Vegas was granted a franchise for the opening season of the UFL. Jim Fassel was chosen as the head coach for the Locomotives, who helped them to a 4–2 record win in his first season. In the 2009 UFL Championship match, the Locomotives won over the then-undefeated team of Florida Tuskers to emerge as the first champions of the League.
Before the 2010 season, Jim Fassel added also became general manager of the team, replacing Rick Mueller, who was in charge in 2009. The team won its second UFL championship, again defeating the Florida Tuskers at a score of 23-20 in November 27, 2010.
