The United Arab Emirates national football team is the national team of UAE which is controlled by the UAE Football Association. The team made one World Cup appearance in 1990 though they lost three games to West Germany, Colombia and Yugoslavia. In 1992 Asian cup, they came in the fourth place and were runner up in 1996. In both the matches, their final match was lost on penalty kicks. By 2007, the team beat Oman by 1-0 and won the Gulf Cup for the first time in the history.
The head coach of this team is Srečko Katanec with the home stadium being Sheikh Zayed Stadium. Adnan Al Talyani took the maximum caps of 164 and also the top score of 53. As per FIFA rankings, the team is ranked at 88th place with their highest rank being in 1998 placed at 42 place.
This best result was in 2007 when they won the Gulf Cup of Nations award and in 2009 with group stage title. Moreover, the team was qualified for the FIFA World cup in 1990, which was their major achievement till date. Other than that, they were placed second in the Asian Cup in 1996 and the winners of Kirin cup in 2005.
