Korea Republic team was in Group B at the FIFA World Cup in 2010 in South Africa. They got qualified to the knockout stages of the World cup after their 2-2 draw against Nigeria. In the knockout stage, they lost to Uruguay by 2-1.
Major Achievements
With right to AFC Asian Cup, the team were the winners twice, in 1956 and in 1960, and runner-ups in 1972, 1980 and 1988.
Korea Republic participated in the Asian Games and won gold medal thrice in 1970, 1978 and in 1986. They won the Silver medal thrice in 1954, 1958 and in 1962. It was in 1990 that they won one Bronze medal. With Asian Games, this team won Bronze medal once in 2002. With right to East Asian Football Championship, the team won twice, in 2003 and in 2008.
