KF Tirana is an Albanian football club based in the capital city of Tirana. They currently feature in the Albanian Superliga and are the most famous and successful clubs of Albania, having won the league 24 times and Albanian Cup 13 times.
KF Tirana were established on August 16,1920 as “Agimi Sports Association”. In 1927 the club were rechristened as “Sportklub Tirana” and just before World War II became the first club in Albania to introduce the permanent role of a regular coach and were also the first club in Albania to appoint a foreign coach when Hungarian Samo Singer became the club’s coach in 1934.
After World War II Tirana suffered because of the reign of the communist regime. But they revived in the 1960s when they thrice won the league. But after winning the Albanian league in 1969-1970, Tirana failed to become the champions of their nation again until 1981-1982. Since then, though, Tirana have been consistently winning the league title in Albania.
KF Tirana won the Albanian Cup for the first time in their history in 1938 and have won the competition 13 times.
KF play their home matches at the Qemal Stafa stadium that can accommodate 27,529 spectators.
