NK Celik Zenica is a Bosnian football club based in the city of Zenica. They currently feature in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one of the most popular and successful clubs of Bosnia.
NK Celik Zenica were established in 1945 and played in the Yugoslav First League for 17 years. They won the Mitropa Cup twice and won the Intertoto Cup once.They won the league three years in a row in 1995,1996 and 1997.
But from then on, Zenica went into decline. They were steeped in debt as corruption allegations raged on. But they recovered soon and finished third in the league in the 2007-2008 season and qualified for the Intertoto Cup, although they lost in the first round to FK Grblalj of Montenegro on away goals.
NK Celik Zenica play their home matches at the Bilino Polje that can accommodate 18000 spectators and which is the second largest stadium in Bosnia and Herzegovina in terms of capacity. They bear the nickname the “Black-Red” and their fans are known as the “Bilino Polje”.
