FC Metalurh Zaporizhya is a Ukrainian football club based in the city of Zaporizhia. They currently feature in the Ukrainian Premier League.

FC Metalurh Zaporizhya were established in 1935 when the steel production company Zaporizhstal established the football club “Stal”. Very soon the club was given the status of the main club in the region. They started their life quite well but then declination followed. However, they revived in 1946 and in 1949 won the cup in Zaporizhia Oblast.

In October 1949 the club was rechristened to “Metalurg” and in 1950 made their debut in the USSR Cup. They made their debut in the USSR Championship in 1953and featured in the Championship division “B” between 1953 and 1962.

In 1963 Metalurg were promoted to the USSR Championship division “A” and played in that division until 1971 when they featured in the USSR First League. They finished fourth in the table in their first season in the USSR Championships.

Metalurg were one of the founding members of the Ukrainian Premier League in 1992 and have played in the Ukrainin top flight ever since.

Metalurg play their home matches at the Slavutych Arena that can accommodate 11,983 spectators. They bear the nickname “Tramps”.
