Rio Ave Futebol Clube, commonly known as Rio Ave FC, is a Portuguese football club based in Vila do Conde, norther Portugal. They currently feature in the Portuguese Liga.

Rio Ave FC were established in 1939. It wasn’t until the 1981-1982 season that they managed to make themselves well known when they finished fifth in the league, their highest ever finish in the league. Two seasons fast forward, Rio reached the final of the Portugues Cup final.

Rio then played in the second tier of Portuguese domestic club football in the early 1990s and returned to the top flight.. They were relegated again but returned to the top flight soon.
