Vejle were promoted to the Danish top flight on May 10,1956 and featured in this division for the following 36 years. In 1958 they won the Danish championship for the first time in their history and also won the Danish Cup. They won the Danish championship again in 1971 and featured in the European Cup for the first time in their history. They did the domestic Double in 1972.

In 1977 they won the Danish Cup again and won the Danish championship in 1978. They won the Danish Cup again in 1981 and were awarded the right to keep the Cup permanently with them.

In 1988 they were taken over by four local businessmen. But in 1991 they were relegated to the second tier for the first time since 1956 and the four businessmen left the club as well. But they were back in the Danish top flight in 1995 and at the start of the new millennium were relegated again. But they bounced back soon. Now of course, thanks to a group of businessmen who reconstructed the club’s economy, the club is now one of the richest in Danish football.

Vejle BK play their home matches at the Vejle Stadion and have been playing there since 1922. Their main rivals are AGF from Aarhus.
