Based out of the city of Rocha in Uruguay, Rocha Futbol Club are one of the few teams to not be based from the capital, and play in the Segunda Division. A pleasure enjoyed only by clubs from Montevideo, Rocha forms the entire list of teams, from outside the capital, to have won the Uruguayan Primera Division as well as play in the Copa Libertadores. However, this success has come via an unconventional use of a conventional method - mergers. Normally, teams do undergo mergers with other clubs to improve their strengths, both financially and in footballing terms. Rocha was formed after a similar deal, when a mammoth 40 teams from in and around Rocha combined together to form a single club.
The team uses the 10,000 capacity Estadio Municipal doctor Mario Sobrero as its home stadium.
