FC Rapid Bucuresti is a Romanian football club based in Bucharest. They currently feature in the Romanian first division and are one of the three biggest clubs of Romania.

FC Rapid Bucuresti were established on June 25, 1923 when some Romanian railroads agreed to merge CFR and Excelsior and competed in the first league in 1931.

After the World War II from 1945 FC Rapid Bucuresti started to go into decline and won the first championship officially recognized only in 1967.

But in the 1970s and the 1980s, FC Rapid Bucuresti had to endured several seasons in the second division in Romania although they did enjoy some decent times in the UEFA Cup.

They resurfaced in the 1990s and won the Romanian Championship in 1998-1999 and 2002-2003. In the 2007-2008 season however they could only finish third in the league.

FC Rapid Bucuresti play their home matches at the Giulesti Stadium that can support 19,100 spectators although at the moment it can support 10,000 spectators.

FC Rapid Bucuresti bear the nicknames Vulturii Visinii, Giulesteni, Feroviari.
