Clube do Remo or Leao, as it is known, is a Brazilian football team that plays in Belem, in Para. The clube was formed by former members of the Sport Club do Para, in 1905. In 1908, Remo was shut down after the general assembly but the major blow came in 1910 when Remo was officially declared closed by the owners after they reached a consensus with Sport Club do Para. However, a year later, 10 people got together and decided to restart the club and since then, Remo has been a major force in the state and higher levels of football in Brazil.

Remo have won the Campeonato Paraense on a mammoth 42 occasions. The team has played at the higher divisions of league football in Brazil as well including the Serie C, whose title they won in 2005. This was the club’s first and only national title till date and it surpassed their previous three Copa Norte wins in 1968, 1969 and 1971. The team has also won the Copa Norte - Nordeste in 1971 and 1994.

The team plays its home games at the 18,000 seater Evandro Almeida stadium but the Mangueirao has also been a host on certain occasions.
