Tim Matavž >is a Slovenian football player who is presently playing for FC Groningen as a striker. Born in Šempeter pri Gorici, he stands six feet two inches and the jersey number allotted to him is 11. This is one rising star of Slovenian national football team and included in the men squad of Matjaz kek irrespective of his single senior cap. Though inexperienced, his inclusion does not come as a major surprise as he has contributed a lot at his former clubs and under 21 level.
Tim started playing football at the tender age of six, with his first club being NK Bilje from 1995 to 2004. It was in 2004 when he signed with Gorica club during which he made 30 appearances and 15 goals. By 2007, he was with Groningen and made 51 appearances scoring 15 goals. He extended his contract with this team on 2010 in the month of February until 2012. By 2008-2009, he played for Emmen on loan basis, during which period, he made 15 caps and scored 5 goals.
His national teams include Slovenia under 21 from 2006 (17 caps and 6 goals) and Slovenia from 2009, with whom he made 2 appearances. It was in 2009 when he scored his first goal in a 2-0 victory in the Eredivisie over Roda JC.
This lad who turned 21 this January is known widely as one of the most promising strikers of Europe with many known clubs already making their interest known to him like Schalke and Valencia.
Whilst with ND Gorica team, he won the Prva liga as a runner up in 2006-07.
