Valter Birsa> is a Slovenian football player who presently plays for the Slovenia national football team and also for the French Ligue 1 team, Auxerre. His career started at the age of five when he played for NK Bilje near Nova Gorica.
This talented player, he soon got transferred to NK Primorje and then to ND Gorica at the age of seventeen. By second season itself, he became the second best striker and also one of the best players in the Slovenian first league. For his home team, he scored 27 goals and by 2006, he signed with Sochaux and was known to be one of the best Slovenian player by a leading Slovenian football website.
In 2009, he was signed on loan basis by AJ Auxerre and he made 15 appearances and scored one goal for this team. He was the youngest player to have been honored at the age of 19. He scored his debut goal for the national team in 2009 in a World Cup match against Poland, with a victory of 3-0.
Career Highlights
Whilst playing for ND Gorica, he received Prva liga in 2004-05 and in 2005-06. He also received the Slovenian Cup as a runner up team in 2004-05. With FC Sochaux-Montbeliard, he received Coupe de France in 2006-07.
