Eiji Kawashima> is a Japanese goalkeeper who is presently playing for the Japan National Football team and for Lierse S.K in the Belgian First Division. He made 14 international caps and his first international debut came in 2008 against Korea DPR. From 2004 to 2006, he played for the Nagoya Grampus Eight and from 2001 to 2003, he played for Omiya Ardija.

During his tenure with Omiya Ardija from 2001 to 2003, he made 41 appearances and from 2004 to 2006, he played for the Nagoya Grampus Eight when he made 17 appearances. He played for Kawasaki Frontale team from 2007 to 2010, where he made 102 appearances. From 2010 onwards, he is been playing for Lierse S. K team.

In 2007, he signed with Kawasaki Frontale, a switch which proved profitable for him. Having played in regular basis in the J. League and also AFC Champions League, Eiji established himself as an automatic player in the squad of Takeshi Okada, Japan.

Standing six feet one inch tall, Eiji jersey number allotted to him is one. He was selected for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and was a back up to Seigo Narazaki. But, he made his goal for Japan in a friendly match whilst playing against England.

Career Highlights

Individually, Eiji received the J. League Best Eleven award in 2009. The same year, he received the J. League Fair Play Award.
