Borislav Bisserov Mihaylov is a famed Bulgarian footballer, who was born on February 12, 1963. He was positioned as goalkeeper and was all-time appearance leader for his country’s national team. In 1986, he was recognized as the Bulgarian Footballer of the Year.
Borislav started his football career in 1981 and played for PFC Levski Sofia until 1989. He transferred to Clube de Futebol Os Belenenses, a Portuguese football club in 1989. In 1992 – 1994 he moved to France and played for FC Mulhouse. In 1995 he joined the team Reading, an English club until 1997. He also joined the football clubs Slavia Sofia and Zurich before retiring. He participated in the FIFA World Cup finals of 1986 and 1994. He was also part of the 1990 and 1998 FIFA World Cup qualifying rounds.
In 1998, Borislav was married to Maria Petrova, well-known rhythmic gymnast. He is also the father of Nikolay Mikhailov a Liverpool FC goalkeeper, who is currently on loaned to a Dutch team FC Twente.
After ending his career in playing football he decided to start a job in football administration. In 2001 to 2005 he became the vice president of the Bulgarian Football Union, the governing body of football in his country.
