Oscar WendtOscar Wendt> who is sometimes referred to as Ozcar Wendt was born on 24th October in 1985 in Skovde. He is a Swedish international football defender, and was selected in the campaign qualification of the FIFA World Cup in 2010. Primarily Oscar plays on the left back position and is even used on the left midfield position.

Having played for the IFK Goteborg from 2003 to 2006, Oscar moved to the F.C. Copenhagen, the Danish champions on a four year contract basis. During his tenure in the IFK Goteborg, he became a significant first team player, which earned him 14 appearances on the Swedish U21 team along with a call-up for the Swedish national team.

During his period in the club, he played in 91 matches and after he left to F.C. Copenhagen, his team felt a huge gap in the defence. However, the gap was filled by Jose Shaffer, Argentine defender from the Racing Club.

Whilst in F.C. Copenhagen for the first two years, Oscar struggled to be a regular first team player, as he was at first a backup for former Norwegian international, Andre Bergdolmo and later on as a backup of Niclas Jensen, a Danish international player. By 2008, he easily became a first choice on the left back position for the team and this earned him a call-up to the Swedish national team, in over 18 months. With his strong performance, he was linked with West Ham of England and Genoa of Italy.

Due to Niclas Jensen injury, Oscar got a chance to prove his talent in the team 2006-07 UEFA Champions League campaign. He played in regular basis as a left back with which the team made a 3-1 victory against Celtic F.C. Along with Michael Gravgaard, Oscar got chosen for the Eurosport ”Team of the Round”.

In 2008, he was linked with Mönchengladbach of Germany along with Siena and Juventus, both from Italy. After many appearances in the group stage of UEFA Cup in 2008-09, he got linked again with many big clubs in Holland, Germany and England.

Career Highlights

Oscar got Danish Superliga awards whilst in Copenhagen team in 2006-07, 2008-09 and in 2009-10 season along with the Danish Cup in 2008-09.
