Mario Augusto Gomez Urbina is a former professional footballer from Peru who played as a defender. Gomez began his playing career with Universitario de Deportes in 1998, playing 118 games for the team over 7 seasons, scoring 3 goals during that span. In 2005, Gomez was sent to Club Sport Ancash on loan for a season, where he played 15 games and scored once.
Upon returning from the loan, Universitario de Deportes decided to join with Universidad San Martin. After just three games for the club, Gomez moved Sport Boys for a couple of seasons, playing regularly in their starting lineup.
Gomez would go on to join Juan Aurich in 2008 where he played 18 games and scored 4 goals before being sent out on loan to Cienciano. During his loan period, Gomez played another 24 games in 2008, scoring one more goal to take his season tally to 5.
In 2009, before the season could begin, Gomez was convicted for murder and sent to prison to serve his sentence.
