He remained with the club till 2004, during which he was loaned to CD Universidad de Concepcion, for one year. In 2004, Emanuel signed a contract with Servette FC, and moved to Switzerland for a year, after which he moved to Gremio FBPA, and then within the same year to KAA Gent. In 2007, Emanuel returned to Chile, and spent a year with CD Cobreloa, after which he moved to O’Higgins, in 2008.

During his tenure with O’Higgins, Emanuel displayed immense skill, which was noticed by Chilean national team coach, Marcelo Bielsa, who included the young footballer in the national team three times. At the end of 2008, Emanuel signed with Club America, in Mexico, and proved his worth by scoring in his very first match for the team, against key rivals, Chivas.
