Madrid paid Ajax a staggering 27 million euros but the player has been worth every penny for the Madrid giants. Sneijder has been one of the important factors for Real Madrid retaining their La Liga crown in the 2007-2008 season.
However, he was considered a surplus to requirement after the completion of the 2008-09 campaign, and he was let go. Sneijder moved to Inter Milan, and promptly won the Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the UEFA Champions League in his debut campaign at San Siro.
Sneijder is also a Dutch international footballer and made his debut for the senior side against Portugal in April, 2004. He featured for Dutch team in Euro 2004, World Cup 2006 and World Cup 2010.
