Ashkan Dejagah is an Iranian-born German football player who currently features for the German Bundesliga club, VfL Wolfsburg. He is a versatile footballer who can play either as a striker or as a winger. At present, he plays for the Iran national football team.
Ashkan commenced his professional club football career for Hertha Berlin against VfL Bochum in the opening game of the 2004-2005 season. That was his only first team appearance for Hertha that season and he became the youngest player ever to play for the German club. During his tenure at Hertha, he was the top scorer in 2005-06 with 12 goals and 23 appearances.
Dejagah played for Hertha for three seasons and was signed by VfL Wolfsburg in 2007. In his first season with this team, he scored 8 goals and in the second season, he was a regular part of the Bundesliga winner team.
With the VfL Wolfsburg team, he won the Bundesliga in 2008-09. Internationally, whilst with the Germany U21 team, he won the UEFA European U21 Football Championship in 2009.
