A football goalkeeper, Andrey Nazario Afonso is a Brazilian player, who began his professional football career in 2003, with Gremio Porto Alegre. Afonso remained with the club till 2005, after which he moved to Atletico Paranense, but left the same year to join Figueirense. After over 30 appearances in one season, Afonso switched to Steaua Bucuresti, and then moved to Steaua II Bucuresti the very next season. He did not complete the season with the club and moved to his current club, Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, the same year itself.

Afonso won the man of the match title in his debut match itself, where he saved one penalty against Steaua. Some titles that Afonso has claimed are Under-20 World Cup in 2003, the Parana State league title in 2005 and the Santa Catarina State league title in 2006.
