An Uruguayan footballer, Juan Manuel Salgueiro, began playing professional football with Danubio F.C. in 2002. He remained with the club till 2006, during which period Salgueiro was part of the team which won the Uruguayan Primera Division title in 2004.

In 2006, Salgueiro moved to Spain to join Real Murcia, with whom he made 9 league appearances, but could not score in any of those. He remained with the club for only one season, moving to Mexican club, Club Necaxa, for a brief period of time. In the year 2007 itself, Salgueiro left Necaxa and moved to Argentina to join his current club, Estudiantes de La Plate, where he plays as striker.
