An Argentine footballer from San Justo, Claudio Daniel Husain began his football career with Velez Sarsfield in 1993 and remained with the club till 2000. He joined up with Argentine giants, River Plate that same year, but played with the club for one season before playing for Napoli, an Italian club. He remained there also for only one season, before returning to River Plate. Popularly known as El Turco, or The Turk, Husain has also played with a Mexican club, known as UANL Tigres.
In 2005, Husain joined his current team Newell’s Old Boys, and has remained with the club since. He has bagged six Primera Division titles, three during his time with Velez and the remaining three with River Plate. Husain has also been a part of the Argentine national football team, from 1997 till 2002. He appeared in the 2002 FIFA World Cup as well.
Dario Husain, Claudio Husain’s brother, is also a professional football player. Apart from the games with the national team, Husain has also appeared in several other international events such as Copa Libertadores, Copa Intercontinental, Supersopa Sudamericana and Recopa Sudamericana. Four of these appearances have been converted into victories.
