An Argentine football player, Leonardo Daniel Ponzio is a midfielder who plays in the top-flight of Argentina’s league structure. Leandro began his football career at the youth academy at Newell’s Old Boys. He broke into the first team and in 2003, was transferred to Real Zaragoza for 4 seasons. In 2007, he came back to Argentina, to River Plate and played for the first team. His first goal for the club came against Colo-Colo in the 2007 edition of the Copa Libertadores.

At the international level, Leonardo has been a part of the Under-17 team, the Under-20 team and even the senior national squad. With Real Zaragoza, Leonardo won the 2004 Copa del Rey in Spain while he won the 2008 Clausura title with River Plate. He was also a part of the under-20 team that won the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in 2001.
