An Argentine goalkeeper, Marcelo Alberto Barovero began his playing career in 2003, with Atletico de Rafaela. Playing in the Primera B Nacional division, Atletico de Rafaela won the championship in his very first season with the club, and moved up to the Primera Division.
Mostly as part of the reserve team, Barovero stayed on the sidelines as the club got relegated at the end of the season. He decided to stay with the club and slowly moved into the top spot as first choice goalkeeper. He appeared for his club over 100 times and then made a move to Club Huracan, in the Primera Division, in 2007. After a single season in the first team, Barovero moved to Velez Sarsfield where he will be looking to establish himself in the first team squad as well.
