An extremely talented player, Mario Videla won almost all the major South American titles while playing for clubs in Argentina and Columbia. His career began at Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza in 1981, where he stayed for just one season before moving onto giants Argentinos Juniors for one of the most exciting periods in his career. Winning two league titles and the Copa Libertadores as well as the Copa Interamericana were incredible highlights to some wonderful years at the club. In 1987, Videla decided to move to Colombia where Millonarios became his destination.
In his two years at Millonarios, the most successful team in Colombia added two more titles to their name before Videla decided to come back to Argentina. Once back home, he had numerous short stints with Racing Club, Newell’s Old Boys and San Lorenzo, before moving to Canada and Hamilton Steelers. He came back the following year after the Canadian league folded and this time, he went to Peru and to Melgar, before finishing his career at Deportivo Laferrere in the Argentine Segunda Division.
