An Argentine professional footballer, Esteban Nicolas Gonzalez is a midfielder who has played at the biggest clubs in Europe and in South America. As a youngster, Gonzalez started his career with Atletico Belgrano in 1998 and over the next three seasons, played over 75 games for the side, scoring thrice. In 2001, at the peak of his ability, Gonzalez shifted to Gimnasia and gave them 91 wonderful games, scoring 5 times.
Then came his big move to Lazio in 2004 but in a season, his career went on a downward spiral, unable to hold onto a starting place in the side. So, in a bid to revive his career, Gonzalez came back to Argentina and re-joined Gimnasia for another season where he scored three goals in 22 games. Colon de Santa Fe was his home for the next season and in 2007, Gonzalez played 29 games for Colon, before shifting to Las Palmas in Spain. Another disappointing season abroad led him to return to his savior from his last poor trip, Gimnasia. In 2008, Gonzalez was back at Gimnasia, looking for another season at Argentina’s top-flight.
