Marek Hamsik is a Slovakia international football player who currently features for the Italian Serie A club Napoli. He plays as an attacking midfielder and also as a support striker, and is considered as one of the best players in Europe.
Hamsik started his professional club football career at Slovan Bratislava in 2004 after developing through the club’s youth academy. He was signed by Italian club Brescia in 2004 when he was only 17 years of age. The fee paid to Slovan was 500,000 euros.
Hamsik was hugely impressive at Brescia and made his Italian Serie A debut for the club against Chievo Verona in March 2005. He went onto become a first-team regular and scored 10 goals in 65 appearances for Brescia.
In 2007 Marek Hamsik was signed by Napoli for 5 million euros on a five-year contract. He has since gone onto become a first choice regular striker for Napoli. He was the club’s top scorer in the 2007-2008 season, scoring 9 goals in 36 matches and has now over 200 league matches to his name for the Naples outfit.
Hamsik made his international debut for Slovakia in 2007 and has gone onto establish himself for his nation. He played his first match for his nation against Poland on February 2007 and has played over 60 matches for his country so far.
