Martin Laursen is a Danish international football player who currently features for the English Premier League side Aston Villa. He is a centre back and is one of the more important players for Aston Villa.
Martin Laursen commenced his footballing career at Silkeborg IF in 1995 and after three highly impressive seasons was signed by Italian side Hellas Verona in 1998. Laursen was a huge success at Verona and made 58 league appearances for the Italian side between 1998 and 2001.
AC Milan then came calling and after a six-month loan period signed the Danish player in the summer of 2002 for 8.7 million pounds. Although he played for the Italian powerhouse for two seasons, he could make only 10 appearances in the Italian Serie A in those two years.
Aston Villa signed Martin Laursen in the summer of 2004 for 3 million pounds and the Danish international has grown to be a huge player for the Midlands side, having featured in around 100 matches in all competitions for Villa.
Martin Laursen made his international debut for Denmark in 2000 and has gone onto play 49 times for his nation, scoring 2 goals. He represented his nation at the 2002 World Cup.
