Danny Collins is a Welsh international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Sunderland. He plays as a defender.
Danny Collins developed at the youth academy of Chester City and made his debut for the first team in 2001. His impressive talent and quality soon made him a regular at Chester. He scored 4 goals in 71 immensely successful matches for Chester and helped them to Football League promotion after a four-year absence in 2003.
Danny Collins was signed by Sunderland in October 2004 and he has been a regular for the Black Cats since then, playing both in the Premier League and outside the top flight. So far Collins has featured in over 100 league matches for Sunderland and has grown to be one of the more important players in the current Sunderland side. He was also awarded the Sunderland player of the year award in 2008 and is expected to be a huge player for Roy Keane’s side in the 2008-2009 season too.
