Russell Anderson is a Scottish football player who is on the books of the English Premier League club Sunderland. He plays as a defender and has been loaned to the Coca Coala Championship side Burnley for the 2008-2009 season.
Russell Anderson made his start in professional club football in 1996 for Aberdeen in Scotland. He went onto become an important player for Aberdeen and scored 18 goals in 280 hugely impressive league matches. He was also the captain of the club towards the end of his tenure with Aberdeen and in the 2005-2006 season won the most manof-the-match awards from BBC Radio’s Scotland’s Sportsround.
Russell Anderson moved to Sunderland in the summer of 2007 for 1 million pounds and made his debut for the Black Cats in the Premier League on August 18,2007 aganst Wigan Athletic.
But he was never considered a first team player by Sunderland Roy Keane after that and played on loan for Plymouth Argyle for the second half of the 2007-2008 season.
In the summer of 2008, Anderson was signed by Burnley on loan for the 2007-2008 season.
Russell Anderson made his international debut for Scotland in 2002 and has featured 11 times for his nation so far.
