John Paintsil is a Ghanaian international football player who currently features for the English Premier League club Fulham. He plays as a defender.
John Paintsil started his professional club career at Ghanian side Berekum Arsenal in 1999. He then moved to Liberty Professionals and then back to Berekum Arsenal. He played for Polish club Widzew Lodz for a short period of time in 2002.
In 2002 he was signed by Maccabi Tel Aviv and played for them for two seasons, featuring in 46 league matches. He also played five matches in the UEFA Champions League.
In December 2004 John Paintsil was signed by another Israeli giants Hapoel Tel Aviv. He went onto score 3 goals in 42 league matches and won the Israeli State Cup in 2006.
West Ham United signed Paintsil in 2006 but he could make only 19 Premiership appearances in two seasons and was signed by Fulham in 2008.
John Paintsil made his international debut for Ghana in 2001 and has played 45 matches for his nation so far. He played at the African Cup of Nations in Mali in 2002, at the 2004 Olympics and at the 2006 Germany World Cup finals.
