Szoboszlai played in his youth career for Fonix Gold and MTK Budapest, moving to Austrian second tier club Liefering in 2017 where he quickly made a mark.
In 2018, Red Bull Salzburg signed him. He made 83 appearances and scored 26 goals across three seasons.

In December 2020, RB Leipzig signed Szoboszlai on a four-and-a-half-year deal for 20 million euros. He scored in the 2023 DFB-Pokal final victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.
In July 2023, Liverpool signed Szoboszlai on a five-year contract with a release clause trigger meaning he cost around 60 million pounds.
