Brett Michael Emerton is a Australian international football player who currently features for the English Premier League side Blackburn Rovers. He is a versatile footballer who can play as a wide midfielder, central midfielder or full back.

Brett Emerton started his professional club career at Australian side Sydney Olympic in 1996 and played for them for four years, scoring 16 goals in 94 league matches.

Feyenoord signed Emerton in August 2000 for a fee of 415,000 pounds and Emerton was a star at the Rottendam Arena as his versatility and consistency made him a huge player in the Netherlands.

Brett Emerton played for the three seasons at Feyenoord and won the UEFA Cup in May 2002. He was also adjudged as the 2002 Oceania Footballer of the Year. He scored 11 goals in 92 league appearances for Feyenoord in three years.

In the summer of 2003 Brett Emerton was signed by Blackburn Rovers on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. His versatility soon became evident in the Premiership and the smoothness with which he managed to seep his way through in the Premier League was marvelous and acknowledge by all.

Brett Emerton has played more than 160 Premier League matches for Blackburn in various positions on the football pitch and has signed a contract with the club that sees him through until the summer of 2012.

Brett Emerton made his international debut for Australia in 1998 and has played 66 international matches for his nation so far, scoring 14 goals. He captained his side to the 2000 Summer Olympics and played at the 2006 Germany World Cup.
