Steve James Sidwell is an English football player who currently features for the English Premier League side Aston Villa. He is a central midfielder and is known for his work ethic and creativity.
Steve Sidwell developed at the Arsenal youth academy but could never make a senior appearance for the Gunners and in January 2003 was signed by Reading on a four-and-a-half year deal.
He was an instant hit at Reading and in 2004 the British football magazine, Four Four Two, voted him as the best player outside the Premiership.
Sidwell became an important player for the Royals as they gained promotion at the end of the 2005-2006 season. He has a great debut season in 2006-2007 and was signed by Chelsea in the summer of 2007 after scoring 29 goals in 168 league matches.
But Sidwell failed to settle at Stamford Bridge and managed just 16 Premiership matches in the 2007-2008 season. In the summer of 2008 he was signed by Aston Villa for 5 million pounds on a three-year deal.
